My Writing Life

My writing life can be briefly described by two parts, my diaries and the poetry.

When I was a little girl, the first person that inspired and educated me was my father. He taught me a wide range of knowledge, and he influenced me in my writing life as well. For example, he used to ask me to write diaries. To be honest, at the beginning, it was against my will, so I did not like it at all. As far as I’m concerned, once someone requires you to do something, which is outside of your interest, you will not enjoy it as much. That was my case and besides that my diaries were checked by my father every day; that supervision was not my joy at that time.

However, I cannot simply deny my father’s intention in asking me to write diaries, only because I could not entertain myself too much doing it. I have to confess that, to a certain extent, it had a very strong and positive influence on my writing life.

And what was more, I even started to feel comfortable with it. So I began to record those unforgettable moments of my daily life. It could be some important events, some interesting activities, some different thoughts or just some simply routines. It might have seemed boring at the time, but it was a very good way to summarize what life was like, to remember the beautiful moments that once happened to me throughout those old days.

Up till now, apart from improving my writing skills, I also consider that writing diaries can be a very useful way to release emotions. It helps to express feelings, happiness or sadness, ups and downs; to extract the negative sensations like stress or pressure. That is why I now carry my dairy notebook with me wherever I go, in order to be prepared for rescuing myself mentally from every possible difficult situations that may occur.

Apart from the diary, the other important factor that effects of my writing life is poetry. I love reading poetry in the languages that I can understand, like Chinese, Spanish and English. Reading those beautiful and sentimental words makes me feel good in a very special way. Not only reading, I also intend to write something with my best effort. I really do enjoy doing it, trying so hard to think of every single word that I want to use in the sentence, finding the perfect one from my dictionary according to the context I am creating.

When I am traveling from place to place, I like taking pictures just as the rest do in order to memorize the landscapes, the nice companions, or the lovely moments while strolling slowly on the way. Besides that, I enjoy writing down something with my pen, something related to the sights I observe, the thoughts I come up with, the feelings pop out through my heart.

At the end, in a nutshell, I love writing and I look forward to putting more effort on improving it.

Challenged My Dad

I still can recall this memory that once I challenged my father’s belief. The result was not pleasant, because of the punishment which came afterwards. However, I have never regretted.

There was a day, after school just like normal days, my father asked me about what I learnt from the class. I replied him with my prepared answers. And then, as usual he asked me about more details. I told him from course to course. Finally we came to Morality and Philosophy material, and I casually mentioned about one specific idea that my teacher taught me that day, which was also written in the text book. It said “persons’ character can be somewhat altered in the future by the environment which is distinguished from the family background.”

As confidant as I could, I explained him the idea the way how the teacher did in the class. But I noticed his face getting serious, he chuckled and responded me, “What? It can be true”, with a stronger voice, he added, “Person’s character can’t be changed in the future”, as he continued, “Your family decides your character.” I could feel by that time, how rigid it sounded. As a 12-year-old little girl, it was my first time I determined to try to debate with my father.

I responded him, “Dad, but I think persons’ future behaviors can be influenced by the environment”, with more detailed, I added, “and your behaviors can somehow change your character.”
Certainly, after hearing that I was disagreed with him, he got irritable. He kept repeating what he believed, and tried to convert me. However, surprisingly, I persisted in my point of view.

That day by challenging his belief, no wonder, I ended up with a bad punishment. My father was like my mayor childhood authority, it was not easy for me at all. Nevertheless, I have never regretted. On the contrary, I still insist on what I believe.

A Camel´s Discovery

As a normal camel, Donk had something not normal on his camel´s mind. He was raised in a common camel´s family with an appropriate education. However, one day his parents shared with him a family secret, that 3000 years ago, one of his ancestors left a legacy somewhere in the desert. The ancestor had been an archconservative old camel, yet very wise at that time. Nevertheless, his parents mentioned that the legacy was a preliminary draft for a great invention for the human society in the future.

“But how did this have anything to do with our camels?” Donk had always wondered. Finally one day his overwhelming curiosity drove him to make up his mind. “I’m going to find out, I need to know it.” So right after his decision was made, he left home immediately that day, for sure, with complete preparation.

Bearing the intolerable weather, Donk passed through thousands of rough mountains for 47 days, with his iron will, on the 48th day. He finally arrived at his destination. There was vast area of green trees with wild flowers everywhere. In the middle of the picture, there was a vivid river. Donk saw something very conspicuous in the middle of the river. He leaned closer, and he was very cheerful. “It is the legacy, this is it!” He repeated time and time again with satisfaction. It was a primitive manuscript. The content inside was not very legible; however, Donk found his way to read it, as it was completely unambiguous for him, in spite of its ancient scrip. Donk absorbed the idea of this gift from his ancestor. It was about how camels’ humps correlated to a great human invention.

As camels’ humps can restore food and energy, so can humans do the same thing. It described in details how humans can take good advantage of renewable sources, such as solar energy, wind, water etc. And how humans can absorb and later restore them and use them when necessary.

Donk stood stunned with his mouth wide open. He had learnt a bit about how human society now is short of energy and there are lots of environmental problems going on. So he decided to reveal his discovery to the humans as soon as he got back home. And no wonder he did a great contribution to the human society. And he won Nobel Prize that year, and he was the first camel who won Nobel Prize, and of course, he became rich and famous.
